Wednesday March 25 was the first really big day of travel on my trip. I flew first to Seattle, then to Detroit where I met up with Anna, my granddaughter who flew to Detroit from Washington DC.
Then we began the flight to Sao Paulo, Brazil. This leg alone was 10 hours. There is a one hour time difference between the East Coast and Brazil and a four hour difference between Alaska and the East Coast.
By the time we boarded the plane for Brazil it was 8:00 PM. I left Anchorage at 6:00 AM. The nice thing about an international flight is that they feed you at no extra cost and the food is pretty good.
Anna and I were seated together. The flight was not real full and we realized later that we could have claimed a middle row of seats for sleeping if we had realized it soon enough. We will be smarter on the return trip.
Bottled water is plentiful which is good and there were lots of free movies, games, etc right on the screen in front of each seat. We did get in some sleep which was helpful.
It is amazing how long it takes to get there. We will arrive in the morning and then we will have to board another plane for a three hour flight to our final destination, Fortaleza.
