New Year’s Eve….

My daughter’s family tradition is chocolate fondue on New Year’s Eve along with crackers (the kind you pull out for a crown and a small trinket) and staying up until midnight.  We carried out that tradition tonight although some people were pretty tired before midnight arrived.

My oldest granddaughter and her boyfriend, who arrived from Virginia, made a special German Christmas cookie, Cinnamon Stars (Zimtsterne) and we watched a Christmas movie.

It was a fun evening and my youngest granddaughter and I got in some knitting time too.

We always have family prayer time before bedtime which is a tradition from my kids’ growing up that has been continued in my daughter’s home.  Everyone prays with an order pre-arranged by my son in law (slightly different from our order when my daughter was a child).  He give out requests to each person including one world request.  It is a great way to end the day and we continued that tradition tonight with everyone joining in.

Father, thank you for prayer time.  It reminds me of the days when my children were growing up and brings me closer to you.  I am thankful for shared memories together.  Amen.
