It was great to be at church and to see everyone. After being gone for three Sundays, it felt good to be home. The kids were very responsive and I was happy to teach them.
After church and my visit to the hospital, my grandson and I went blueberry picking. He drove to our destination. Kansas requires 50 hours of driving before he can get his actual license so he is keen to drive here as much as possible. I am sure that once school starts for him his driving time will be greatly curtailed.
We weren’t very successful in getting a lot of blueberries. We went to one of our favorite spots and looked high and low for blueberries. There is a lot of evidence that more blueberries are coming, but they appear to be very late this year. My flowers have been late too so it seems to fit in with the theory that we had a cold snap that set everything back.
We are about a fourth cup short of the amount of berries needed for our jam project so we may look again in another spot tomorrow. I am hoping we get enough as this is one of Luke’s favorite summer activities and the last time he came we had to resort to fireweed jelly as there were no blueberries at all.
I am sure that everything will work out.
Father, thank you for loving us so much and giving us special times that we can hold in our memory. I love you. Amen.
